ONE KNOWS WELL THE STAR ONE LIVES UPON

The title of this exhibition inspired by an article from the 1970s celebration of conquering outer space is fulfilled through a tragically-comedic content pointing towards the current exploitation of Earth by humans. Rather than directly critiquing anthropocentrism, this exhibition illustrates the confused search for our place in the current planetary situation. The character of art collector from Laura’s film, cynical and numb intellectual, oscillates between his scientifically cold view of humankind and humanist sentiments. But even lamenting moralistically in dream-haze can be an oxymoron: “Gaia isn’t inflatable, not everyone is worthy of living upon its surface…”
