”Those who can’t shoot are useless.“ – Karel Čapek, Mother
Reenactment is something between a game, amateur theatre, spartakiad, and land art. An inscenation of a time of war, the state of organized violence, intercedes the eternal yearning of people to kill each other. Even if it’s just pretending. Experimental film by Martin Ježek connects document-style shots of historical reenactments of battle maneuvers with the literary- dramatic original play Mother by Karel Čapek with contemporary anti-fascist themes. The film was shot on two types of analogue and will be screened from both 8mm and 16mm projectors simultaneously.
