ELEMENTS OF CZECH SCI-FI – VISIONS OF THE FUTURE IN CZECH POST-NOVEMBER ANIMATION
Czech animation has rarely adhered to pure forms. It’s always bent or parodied genres. Science fiction isn’t an exception. As we can see in this programme covering the last 30 years, authors tend to borrow various properties of this genre to create pessimistic visions. From slightly amusing – reflecting for example fears of over-technologized society – to (post)apocalyptic scenarios.
Selection prepared by Pavel Horáček, program director of Anifilm.
