Queer Shorts
This collection of LGBTQ+ films plunges into the experiences of queer people while confronting and cross-questioning our socio-political structures. From documentary to fiction, the selection is a pacified representation across identities, orientations, and nations. – Radu Stīclå
The collaboration between Cineclube do Porto (Porto Film Society) and BEAST International Film Festival started at the outset of the festival, in 2017. Both organizations intend to promote cinema: BEAST IFF, focusing on Eastern European cinema, and Cineclube, also supporting the promotion of Portuguese directors. The first programme we created together was PORTUGUESE ABROAD, with the aim of promoting the work of Portuguese filmmakers in the 21 countries represented by the festival. We have now expanded this partnership with the creation of the QUEER SHORTS – X BORDERS programme, which premieres this year at the 63rd International Film Festival BRNO16 with the presentation of four short films that we believe are very representative of contemporary cinema.
