EXHIBITION: Botič in the summer of 1935

Although amateur film (smaller part of which didn't belong to the environment of neither amateurs nor standard Czech professionals) has blossomed at the beginning of the 30s, there were still projects that were fundamental yet never realised. One of such projects was for example Botič — Stream of the Poor by Jiří Lehovec, which was developed in accordance with the Film-Photo group of the Left Front. In a sense its poetic was even visibly connected to the documentary Across Prague in spring 1934. Lehovec developed the script and photographies for the planned (yet never realised) film in summer 1935. In 1961, during a distinctive revival of Czech amateur film scene, this script was published in the magazine “Through the Camera Lens” and not just as an example of the “progressive pre-war art”, but as a prompt to create independently.
