EXHIBITION: In the Shadow of Admira

Film cameras prototypes Adastra and the others
The exhibition of cinema amateur techniques, organized in a collaboration with Meopta has a humble intention of reminding those film cameras for amateurs and enthusiasts that remained in the form of prototypes only. There are three types of the distinctive/singular cameras. In most cases they were created at home by adjusting the cameras availible on the market – for example, by adding an after-frame shooting. In addition, there were also cameras which cinematographer gadgeteers completely made for themselves and then some corporate prototype designs, which originated mainly in Brno but also in Optikotechna Přerov (Meopta later). The most famous camera exhibited here is undoubtedly the Adastra camera (developed from 1958 to 1962, with the start of production finally beiing stopped in 1965), strongly linked to the personality of engineer Jan Hampl.
