WORKSHOP Carnival of film inventions

Life in the 21st century brings never-ending surge of audiovisual information that are quite difficult to hide from. Whether it is cinema, television, computer display or mobile phone, most of us can spend ages watching the illusion of a moving image. Do we know how this “moving image” originates and how it can be perceived by human senses?

The key to understanding the phenomenon of moving image will be a trip into the history of cinematography and all the incredible inventions which have lead to today’s form of audiovisual culture. During the Carnival of film inventions all visitors will have the opportunity to try out the reconstructed and appropriately adapted film inventions such as laterna magika, “foloryt”, or praxinoscope. The workshop will be opened to the public.
