In a hospital room, Daughter remembers the time when as a little girl she needed to share an experience with a wounded bird with Father. This moment of incomprehension, misunderstanding, and missed embrace has extended to years and years until here and now in the hospital room. Until the moment when a little bird breaks the window in the room when it crashes into it.

An intimate narrative about the relationship between father and daughter that doesn’t need words. The animated story reveals everything a person might feel before their last breath. Dynamic camera and detailed shots of puppets show what precious about life – the need to be understood, embraced, and to be together.

Daria Kashcheeva was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Animated Film and also won the Czech Lion Magnesia Award for Best Student Film.
