In The Middle of Nowhere for the second time

The 62nd edition of the International Short Film Festival BRNO16 is round the corner and you’re probably burning to know how it’s all going to happen. We have two surprises for you: the festival team has opted to make two unexpected steps this year – to extend BRNO16 by one day and to re-introduce all of last year’s films. And why did we make this decision?

Last year’s pandemic, which disabled (not only) cinemas and festivals forced the majority of festivals to postpone or to move online – BRNO16 wasn’t spared either. Short films selected into the international competition and the Czechoslovak 16 were only presented online and weren’t given the opportunity to shine on the silver screen. And so we want to fix that this year! All those amazing shorts will be available in screening halls. And you’ll be able to both see them and to vote about which one is the best – the one with the most votes will be given the audience award as well as a cash prize.

And that’s not all. We are also working on an amazing off programme full of short films of various forms and genres. Lovers of discussions, debates, exhibitions and workshops won’t be disappointed. We’re also including the increasingly popular videogame programme. As usual, we have also prepared a festival warm-up on the night before BRNO16 – this year in the form of stand-up comedy. The closing ceremony will take place on Saturday, 16 October with the announcement of the winners and an after-party. Screenings will also be available on Sunday, 17 October and will include blocks of winning films.

We will be publishing the programme in the news section as well as on our Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t want to miss anything, make sure to follow us! We look forward to seeing you at the festival!
