Brno 16 will take place between 9th and 12th October and it will celebrate its 60th birthday... but it's not retiring just yet! Art (always) makes us stronger, We are family (for life), It’s (still) a fight, but we are looking forward to the Future and we have a lot of great plans! We have a new festival competition Czechoslovak 16, which consists of films from Czech and Slovak authors. And what does it mean for you, film-makers? And how to submit your film? Got any questions on your mind already? Here are all the answers you're looking for!
• When and where will the festival take place?
The 60th edition of Brno 16 takes place on the 9–12 October in Brno, the second largest city of the Czech Republic.
• What kind of film can I submit?
We accept short films no older than three years (made in 2017, 2018, 2019) and no longer than half an hour. We accept films that have not been commercially available and for commercial use. Advertising spots and publicity films will not be accepted. The competition can not include films that have already participated in this competition. Registration is free of charge and available online. You can submit your film until the 30. 6. 2019. Films submitted after the deadline will be included in the next years pre-selection.
• How can I submit my film?
Subscribing to the competition is possible for registration and filling the registration system form and the following presentation film by 30.6.2019 online.
• How am I going to find out if my film was chosen? And what comes next?
We announce the results of the tender during the month of September by e-mail and in the film registration system of Brno 16.
Each film admitted to the competition authorizes one author or a representative (or a representative of a team of creators) to participate in the Brno 16 at the expense of the organizer who pays accommodation at the venue of the competition. Payment of the trip is settled individually. Part of the competition is the discussion of the competition photos with the present authors. For all regular participants in the competition, attendance at all accompanying events is free of charge. We like spending time with our guests and will make sure to show you some of the most interesting places in Brno.
If your film isn't be accepted, we would love to see you in Brno nevertheless!
• What can I win?
The winner of the main prize of the international jury receives a prize of 800 Euros. The international student jury will choose the best film that will receive a prize of 400 Euros. The winner of Audience prize will receive a prize of 400 Euros.
The decision of the selection board and the jury is irrevocable.
